I have purchased and tried several other adpaters like this one for my Blackberry 8800, this is the first one that has worked!!!

In order to get these to work with the Pearl, you must plug your headphones in to the adapter first, then plug them into the phone. If you plug the adapter in first and then your headphones, you will only get mono and not stereo unless you pull your headphone cable out halfway.
The button on this adapter usefully pauses/unpauses the music player even when you are not on the music player screen. I have not used the microphone on it so I have no opinion on it.

This thing is a P.O.S. simply because the wiring separated from the microphone, and eventually stopped working completely. This was not vigourous use, it was simply putting it in a jacket pocket. Quality of sound is 5/5, quality of build is 1/5. Pay the extra money for the one with the retractable wire... it might be the difference.

This is the worst purchase I ever made...
the wire is 1,5 mm thick... you blow on it and it will brake.
The is only MONO audio, if does not work on 8800. Bad, bad piece of equipment...
